Need to ID IC 2244

It's a 16-pin plastic package. To the best of my recollection I've had it
in the drawer since the late '70s. The only markings are large 2244 on the
bottom -- the top is blank. If you put a gun to my head, I'd whisper
"Exar", but ever so softly -- though I can't tell you why.

I've found, using Google that there was an Exar 2244 FM Stereo Decoder, but
I couldn't find any pinout so I can't even be sure that that chip is a
16-pin job.

Does anyone have a (URL for) a data sheet for the Exar 2244 who can tell me
what the number of pins is so I'll know if I'm on the right track?

Does anyone have any recollection of any other 16-pin IC which might have
been marked "2244"?

TIA
Norm
