Use the small, button-shaped rare earth magnets.
2. where to have the wire come out for the window/door contacts.

For doors, top center. What kind of windows do you have?
3. Best way to route arouns window/door etc.

If your walls are open, just run the wires through the framing, and into the
attic space, grouped together neatly, and away from AC power wires. Secure
the wiring, but don't overdo it. Drill your own holes; don't use holes
containing AC wires or pipes. Yes, I know some do, but you want to do it
right, right? Drill your own holes.

Yes. Can you tell us what kind of windows: sliders, casements, awnings,
single-hung, double-hung, wood, vinyl, aluminum?

Andersen double hung and Andersen casement I think they are vinyl will
double check when I go tomorrow. I have been doing some searching and
there have been several recommendations for the 1075 but to use an
earth magnet in the bottom of the sash.

I assume you mean vinyl clad.

The 1075's will be good for the top. I might use a stubby for the bottom,
and drill with a brad point bit. On the bottom, angle the drill inward
slightly to match the drainage angle of the sill. A stubby works better
here, and will fit flush. Use the brad point bit to drill the sash, only
deep enough to recess the rare earth magnet. About 3/16". For the
casements, drill up through the window frame, about 1/2" outboard of the
stop, and 6" in from the latch side. Angle the drill (brad point or sharp
spade bit for a clean hole)

Switch to a 2' bit to continue up through the header and top plate.

Does the top sash really need a contact?

I think so. Is there a chance someone could get in that way? (Think little
skinny doper types) Since your walls are open, why not? It'll never be
easier than now.

Man are you taking a chance dealing with this newsgroup. This is a cave of
scammers and rip off artists your walked into. If your a DIYer be sure to
closey investigate (primarily if you buy online) any of the alarm
sellers.....especially here. You wouldnt want to buy from someone whose
sideline is understanding your alarm system for the purpose of exploiting it
later by knowing your codes or maintenance access numbers. They could call
up your alarm and do any number of things to disable it or render it
ineffective without your knowledge..ever.

Be wary of those who do not have a brick and mortar store. When I was
shopping and using this newsgroup some online dealers advertised a ASA
certification with a picture of a ASA eblem shown on their website. It
gives a good first impression but when you look into it you find out that it
was nothing more then some....guy.... creating a website to supposedly post
complaints, with no entrys of complaints or followthru. It was analagous to
someone flashing a police badge that turns out to be fake.

The ASA moniker is a badge without any accreditation and surely this is
misleading and a scam to decieve honest buyers.

Some of the free advice you get is not because of someones unselfish need to
make the world a better place to live. Most are giving you advice on the
hope of getting a sale or...."other" information. Listen but dont act on
the advice until you can confirm or gain some trust in the source by
researching them.

Sometimes you can learn a lot about sellers by plugging in email address or
screenname into a Google search of past news postings. Highly recommend
that....you will be shocked what you find. You will be surprized at what
you find out bout some offering to outfit your alarm. This is a very
unregulated online business, and especially risky for something as important
as your home security.

good luck.

Such as life. But living your life always in complete doubt, is a miserable
way to go through life. It's much more less stressful to have some faith in
others before you prejudge them with doubt. I'd say your resentful because
you failed to make an effective decision? But comparing everyone hear to
scammers, and rip off artists...well it only further confirms your vague
views about life in general. If you feel you got ripped off in any way,
especially as a consumer, contact your State's District Attorney's office
and file a formal complaint in hopes (faith) that your experience won't
happen to the next consumer. Your messages hear serve little purpose, and
further illustrate your ability to be an uneducated consumer, who would
rather cry out loud, than protect other consumers from your fate. Your a
great service, in your own mind.
