Need help with heating element

I want to build a Vaporizer. The idea is, that there will be a heating element, that heats up to around 220-240°C, the hot air will be pulled through a herb-chamber and then into the persons lung by inhaling. I was hoping to use a normal battery to create a heating circuit, but I don't know what type of wire i need to use, how long it should be; as well as what type of battery i need.

Have a look at Nichrome wire first and see if this will work. Oh and welcome to EP.

It's going to have to be one heck of a powerful battery (that probably isn't going to have a very long use-life).
I'm assuming you want it portable.
I'd be checking into these e-Cig type vaporizers already on the market.
