    Hello,
I need help wiring a dc motor forward then reverse. My idea is to have a motor pulley raise then lower a cycle. I have tried a dpdt toggle switch mounted to the line so that when the motor moves the line it hits the switch and hopefully would trigger it to change direction.. but unfortunately it just moves the switch to the in-between state turning off the motor. Anyone suggest anything different? different switches? set up?

also I was wondering about the motor and the amperage. I got it from here,
    and have thttp://www.goldmine-elec-products.com/prodinfo.asp?number=G17949

It works well with a 6v 500ma plug but wanted to know about any other plugs to make it more powerful or faster without burning it out.

    Thanks.
    David.

I posted a circuit that would reverse a motor in this thread https://www.electronicspoint.com/motor-reversing-relay-t255878.html

You could use a 555 timer to drive the "direction" input . Connect limit switches to the "trigger" and "threshold" as shown in attached image. The 1k resistor is for protection in case both switches are on together.
