Hello everyone,
I'm new to this forum and have very little experience with electronics, which is why I came to this site. I am a Search and Rescue TSS (technical search specialist). We use seismic listening devices to help locate victims in collapsed structures such as what happened in Haiti and more recently in New Z & Japan, cave ins etc.
I am trying to build a victim simulator to help train new and current members how to use and to keep up our skills with the listening devices for locating victims (the victim simulators on the market are very, very expensive). I have seen some homemade ones before and thought it wouldn't be very difficult. What I am looking to make is something approx.8 to 10 inches in length and 4-6" in height that will incorporate a device to make a thumping sound on concrete, metal, earth. I would like to be able to make the thumps variable (faster, slower, harder, softer) If it could be a remote control unit that would be even better. Any help in designing a unit such as this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for any help with this project.
