Hello! I have an old Polaroid PDC 300 from back in like 1998.... the camera is toast (atleast as far as I can tell) and has been for years. i found it the other day going through an old box of stuff.... I remember I had some pictures on it of some friends who were killed.... and I would really like to get those off. So Ive taken the camera apart, and found what i beleive to be the storage. Can anyone maybe tell me how to hook this thing up to my pc? I am including a couple of snapshots inside the camera.... I think the part with the yellow tape is the storage...

(they are pretty large files, so Im sorry to those with narrowband connections :)

I would suspect the part in yellow is indeed storage, but not for pictures.

I believe it is a battery.

If the battery is completely dead, then you might try replacing it and maybe the device will power up.

You would be much better off trying to get the thing fired up and dumping the pictures like it's designed to do... You have no idea on the internal file system used on the camera coupled with the fact you would need to dump the memory chips and decode the contents all in all not exactly an easy task at many levels...

I would personally try to get it fired up and than do some searching for some drivers that will allow you to dump the pictures before I started to poke around inside, and attempt a raw dump...

It uses AA batteries, so thats not the battery. I would much rather pull the images off the normal way... but the camera wont power up, and I dont have the cord that came with it... not a usb or anything like that.... remember, this camera was bought in 98 or 99...

I believe the yellow thing is a backup battery for the clock or memory or similar.

As far as I can tell, the only connections to this are what look like power. Does it have a connector with many (say 30 or so) pins?

Yeah I know, from what I gather it's a serial connection that is TWAIN compliant...

Cable and generic download software in that link...

Don't expect quality it's only a 320x240 camera...

If you watch Ebay for a few weeks you can likely get a complete camera and all the accessories for dirt cheap...
