need book recommendation (birthday)

Hey folks,

Got a birthday coming up for a gent that loves just about anything doing
with alternative energy - making electricity with a variety of systems,
solar systems, Listeroid engines -- just everything.

I'd like to find some books that will blow his socks off and really
stimulate his imagination. He has decent DIY skills and tools and he's in
his 70's.

How 'bout it folks -- can you recommend some great titles? Thanks!
