Is there anyone out there (in NZ) that knows where I can buy/rent/borrow
a Betamax VCR.

A friend of mine awants to transfer the contents ofpprox. 30 Beta tapes
(recordings of some classic F1 Grand Prix from the 80's) to something
more usable, like VHS or DVD. We have been quoted approx. NZ$80 PER TAPE
from a local dubbing company, which is just far too expensive.

Any helps or ideas appreciated.

Where are you, and where was that company? I can ask my flatmate if her
company would do that service - they're a video production company so it's
possible. In Auckland, North Shore.

I'm in Wellington, and the price we were quoted was from a Wellington
company. --- I'd be grateful if you could ask your flatmate if they do
this, and an approx. cost.

If they are a production company it's likely that they have Betacam, not
Betamax. Unfortunately they're not compatible.

Russ.

No doubt, but I know they have lots of weirdo gear, so it's worth asking.

**I sold an SLHF950 (the best Beta ever) last year for $800.00. I saw one on
eBay in the Uk last year for 400 Squid. Some people want them. I have my
original SLHF950, which purchased new, back the 1980s. I have no immediate
plans to sell it.

Show anyone its cassette loading method and they'll want one too. its truly
amazing, along with the BS amount of features for a machine of its age.

I Had one as well. Kicked arse over the VHS machines of the day. Still is
a better machine today.
My friends that used VHS were jealous LOL

Steve, did you sort out your Beta problem? I've finally crossed paths with
my flatmate and got her contact that can do this (her company outsources
that requirement).
