Need a ss switch

hey y'all!

I need a solid state switch that acts like a spst mechanical switch.

I'm trying to charge a capacitor from a power source with one switch, when the switch is open I want to discharge the cap through a common power fet through the load to ground.

I'm currently using two reed switches which work very well except that they have a switching speed limit of about 1kcps.

Common transistors& fets require a low volt side in order to conduct. So I'm hoping that someone knows of a fast solid state switch that just provides a conductive path like a reed switch. Would a UJT work?

have a look at solid state relays. It sounds like you only need a small current (you're using reed switches now)

If you need isolation, take a look at something like a S16MD01 although there are probably many other options.

I agree with steve I don't know your application but battery charge and discharge are slow to begin with. no matter what you switch.
