Navman 8120 and Navman in general

Hi all,

A friend of mine bought the Navman MFD 8120. Very nice looking indeed..
but can it deliver when it comes to pretty normal scenarios for boat
owners that can afford to put up the doe for the 8120?

Is it at all possible to install a second screen for the 8120 or any
navman chartplotter for that matter? The garmin and simrad units I have
experience from can do this very well, especially the garmin, even
though it cant feed the video streams to the networked units, as far as
I know. Other brands like Furuno (of course) and _even_ raymarine does
this.

We would have hoped to find at least one of the below options.

1. Networked device making it possible to share external equipment like
ducers and antenna as well as the actual charts installed in the main unit.

2. Slave station. The 8120 works as the main unit and contains maps and
external equipment. The screen images are generated on the main unit and
streamed over to the slave station. The slave station works as the main,
with the same buttons etc, but it has some lag due to transfer of
images and data. (like the "older" simrads)

3. external screen. To be able to hook up an external screen to the
8120. This would not make it possible to change any settings but he
would at least be able to view the 8120 screen on the fly bridge. In a
sofisticated device I guess it would be possible to choose which
internal screen (map, radar) should be generated on the external screen.

The only thing we have found so far is the standard feature of being
able to share NMEA data, such as GPS location from the GPS antenna. But
that still mean one would have to purchase separate maps etc, wouldnt it?

Any suggestions or hints on how to get a second station with navman will
be greatly appriciated!

Thanks

david
