n-channel mosfet

    hello , I connected the IRl640 ( gate to 5v , drain to LEDs to 12V , source to ground ) and control the gate current with a switch as shown in the video , please check the video you see that the operation of the IRL640 is incorrect , what is happening ?:confused:

    A few first impressions:
    1) The gate of a mosfet is a capacitor. Once you charge it, it can stay charged (i.e., on) for a long time. Put a 10K resistor from the gate to ground to turn it off.
    2) If only some of the LED's light or stay lit, I don't believe that is a problem with a single mosfet.

    thanks very much , i added a 10k res (gate to ground ) and its works great

    You're asking advice about a video that nothing is clear enough to comment about. Besides what John said about gate capacitance I think I could safely say that those LEDs are not wired ideally. If they were we wouldn't be seeing some of them illuminated while others are off.
