I decided to let my son try his hand at soldering a circuit board. This is one of the things I got from the radio shack loot sale. It's a cell velleman kit which features 2 leds , 4 resistors, 2 caps, 2 trim pots, and 2 transistors. He placed all the components himself after I explained how to determine e correct polarity. I soldered the first two to show him how it should go and he took off with it. I was very proud of him.

    Ok. Bragging over...

    Nice job.
I did this with my son some time ago, too. these kits are perfect for training solder skills.

You didn't show him your haul from Radio Shack did you???
The kid will use-up all your electronic parts before you ever have a chance to.
Are you training the next Bill Gates of the electrical engineering community there?

well done, how old is the young man? My father has done the same with me, the first words I learnt have been the names of tools.
