Time to visit Ikea?

Dont dare say that to my wife. She has been busting my ass to go there
for some time now.
Have you ever accidently pulled out any of the power cords?

All the time. The PC and laptop are connected to a UPS hidden
somewhere under the desk, they are exempt from power cord pulling.
BTW, what's that little display device with the buttons between the
laptop and the printer?

That would be a Ranger 5200 weighing indicator. I am writing some
software for it now. In fact, for all those ppls trying to use MSComm
OCX in .net apps, these little beast uses a pseudo MS comms class
which is absolutly brilliant.

I'm hoping that not you desk. That even puts my garage to shame. I
normally have double the amount of beer bottles on my desk, but i
cleaned them all off recently.

No, thats (thankfully) not my desk - I couldn't let mine get nearly as
messy.

Bash.org ran a 'messy desk' competetion a while ago; that was the
winner. The worst one (IMO)is http://bash.org/mess/accepted/469205_mess

My desk just has a heap of electronics junk on it (CRO, various
programmers, etc). There's nothing 'organic' :)

Arg..its not so bad...I've got 3 large Billy bookcases in my study,
and another one where my study will be relocated in a few months.
They're cheap, look reasonable, easy to knock down for transport
and take a s**tload of books.

Take the leap. It's the weekend. Your trouble-and-strife will
appreciate your effort in tidying up the place. ;)

Thought about it, but her cooking has got better over the years.
One of the better ads on TV a while back:
"I'd like a set of tyres for my wife."
"Sounds like a fair swap."

That one looks awfully familiar to a sharehouse I used to live in many
years ago. I would be inclided to say that someone took a photo of it,
but that was before the USB days..

The ciggie tray looks familiar too, but not anymore. My wife wont let
me smoke anymore. Kinda shame really as I enjoy the odd ciggie with a
beer.

What is that pink thing under the desk and is it related to the can of
"whipped cream" on the desk top?

One thing I have noticed is the amount of PC's missing the side
panels. I am guilty of this one. How many other developers out there
fail to put the panels back on their PC's?

They usually spent their lives leaning against the wall next to the desk. I
set up a PC for someone else a couple of weeks back, the case was neat - no
screws to remove the covers, it had little clip buttons on top - remember
the old xt desk top cases with the chrome button on either side of the lid -
it's gone a full circle back to what we used to have. Perhaps in future case
covers will get put back on.....

Just be careful you don't get retreads - and check for side wall quality.
Perhaps rotating tyres could be applied to wives?
