multimeters and diode check

I had an older Fluke, I think it was a 77, that had a handy function, an
audible diode check. It would beep once for a good junction, and emit a
continuous solid tone with a short while showing the forward drop on the
display. I found this very handy as a quick go/no-go test to check
diodes and transistors without having to look up at the display for each
one. When that finally croaked I replaced it with a Fluke 87 since I
wanted true RMS but I was disappointed to find the 87 lacks the audible
diode check since it was such an incredibly handy feature.

Now I'm looking for a second meter, I need true RMS and RS-232 (PC
interface), I'd like it to be a benchtop meter, and I while I'm at it
I'd love for it to have audible diode check. As it will be my secondary
meter and subject to less use and abuse, I'm aiming for something less
expensive than the Fluke. Does such a beast exist? Failing that, does
anyone know of a cheap meter with the audible diode check function? I
would buy a cheapie to have around *just* for that feature.
