moving your parts bins

This may be a strange question...

Does anyone have suggestions on packing and moving Akro-Mills style
parts bins? I have a dozen or so that I have collected over the years.
The smt parts are all in individual paper envelopes in the drawers and
many of the ic's are in foam, so I think they will ship ok. But
resistors, caps, etc are just loose in the drawers. I can see that
after the movers fumble the boxes they would be all mixed up. I guess
I'm trying to figure out if it is worth the time to unload each bin
into bags before the move or if the mix-up may be small enough to deal
with later. I have also thought about placing a "foam peanut" in
each section of the drawer, but don't know if that would help any.

Thoughts?

Thanks.

i dont' know the bins, i use dollar store fishing tackle boxes, but,
maybe, paper layer, then foam to keep the paper tight to the tray?

What I've always done (ex-Navy, lots of moves) was to just use ordinary
cheap polythene "sandwich bags" for the non-static-sensitive stuff, put
the bags back in the little drawers, and then tape stiff cardboard
across the front of the cabinet. Zip-lock style bags not required, as
the folding and stuffing is usually sufficient to keep them closed.

If the parts are not "captive" in the drawers then they WILL escape and
migrate downwards in a kind of perverted Pascal's Triangle effect. Take
the time to bag 'em now or spend a very long time sorting by resistor
color codes later...

When I moved I cut sheets of cardboard to cover the front of the
cabinets and wrapped packing tape around a pair of face to face
cabinets. I hauled them over 1000 miles without any problems.

The whole world is held together with duct tape. ;-)

Not real sure of the style drawers you are referring to but depending on
size you can run some clear packing tape over the top of each drawer then
slide them back in (that is with me picturing small sized drawers like what
I have my stuff stored in). Then run the tape over the front of the drawers
to keep them from sliding out. When the bins get to there destination all
you will have to do is pick parts off of the tape rather than sorting if all
goes well?? Then again I see how shipping companies treat everything. They
seem to have a nose for delicate electronics.

Bag 'em once. Keep them that way.

Eight moves, so far, here.

now i kinda like this idea. i could put a sugar foam peanut in each
section of the drawer, then cover the drawer with a piece of that clear
tape. then wrap the whole thing in cardboard like someone else
suggested. sounds like it would certainly keep the larger parts like
pots and big caps in the drawer. i think i might take the time to bag
my resistor bins, sorting would be a real pain.

thanks for the suggestions everyone.
