I have a Klipsch 10" subwoofer that was hit by a 220v surge. The surge was caused by the neutral wire breaking on my incoming utility lines. The board was damaged minimally as the MOV blew out. I asked a friend and he said to take it out and the board should work. I did, and it does. I have been using the sub for a few months and have not thought about it. I am thinking I can, with the help of you guys, fix this thing and have some peace of mind. I have the original component and can get the information for it (it's taped to the bottom of the PCB). I thought about just replacing it but don't want anything to blow if there may be something underlying. I'd like to get it fixed and have that protection back in service so I don't have to go out and get another. These things aren't cheap...

I will get some photos ASAP and post them here.

I'm still trying to get time to disassemble the sub to get some photos of the board and the MOV part no.

Stay tuned...:)

Ok. It's been a couple days but I finally got around to getting the photo. I think I found a replacement at mouser for .10 each.

You can see in the second photo where it goes.

I ordered 10 of them. Just couldn't justify buying 1 and paying $5 shipping.

Got it installed. Will test it later. Just wondering if I should put some silicone there. The other components have that white stuff. 20150611_161722.jpg

After posting about the silicone, I remembered it gives off fumes from the vinegar evaporating. I did not put any of this as it may corrode the components. Vinegar is an acid.
