So I salvaged a color laser printer today and got some goodies from it. One of the things I got out of it is a Nidec RM1-4804 motor. It is rated at 24v, 1.6A. Is this a stepper motor or what? I have looked all over the place and can't find any information on it other than what is already on the label. It spins freely and is pretty heavy for its size.

If it spins freely then it's almost certainly not a stepper motor.

I've seen images of this on the web. I'm not really sure.

Ah, found an image.

It has a board with a connector with

24V 24V GND GND F/R ACC DEC MFG

I would interpret F/R as forward / reverse
ACC as accelerate
DEC as decelerate
MFG no idea, but probably speed feedback.

I would guess it is a a brushless DC motor with integrated controller.
