Hi - I want to mount a portable DVD player to the roof of the minivan so if
anyone has experience dealing with a later model roof liner please lend me
    your thoughts -

I'm thinking something temporary that could be screwed into female
connections that penetrate the nterior roof liner. The connections would
    have to be
anchored somehow and that is where I am stuck. Any ideas?

How about removing the dome light and utilizing its mount?

That's a really good idea. Since the DVD player would be temporary I do not
mind stringing up the DC power and earphone output line though. And since
it is a newer van I am trying to do something low impact - It would be
nice if the dome light was not switched then I could pull power off of that
without turning all of the interior lights on.

I'll bet you can snake a power cable through the 'B' pillar (the column
    behind the
driver and in front of the rear seats) to find power at the nearest lighter
    socket or
failing that, go under the door rail and into the kick panel then on to the
    fuse block.
  5. The dome light probably is hot all the time, many are. The door jamb
switch usually completes the circuit by switching the return wire to
ground. You just need to find your own ground for the CD player, and
    that shouldn't be too hard.
