hey jerry ADT has wireless and cellular capabilitys the secirity co that i
work for in ontario would give you a thousand dollar system for free (basic
system and install)149.00 for activation and 29.99 for monitoring locked for
three years .your insurance company provides a larger discount if your home
is protected and installed by proffesionals(up to 25%in some areas )of
ontario but we are nation wide and i could help you maybe with link s to
your local providers.

Does anyone know of an alarm company that has equipment/facilities to
monitor my system through an internet link, like maybe the system gets
an alarm triggered and builds an ssh tunnel to the central monitoring
facility? I don't have a home phone line and I don't think I'm
going to get one, also I know some companies do a cellular link,
anyone have some suggetions for places?

Should I go with a company to install my alarm or should I install it
myself? I'll be pulling some coax and network cabling through my house
soon, should I also pull some alarm cable and just gets parts or go
with a professional company?

If you're in USA/Canada/Mexico, then we don't have a product that would be
of any use.

However, if you're elsewhere, our product may be of some use.

I didn't seem to have much luck with finding a company to do it over
the internet, my main focus was ADT, but I was also looking at brinks
and meenan too. Also doing it myself was a thought and finding an
outside monitoring facility to monitor my alarm. I checked w/ my
homeowners and an alarm would knock about $100/yr off of my insurance
which isn't much if you figuring in the cost of monitoring. I got a
$22/month deal with ADT for being in a military credit union, it was
still more than I would save, but I think the benefit of having my
house monitored is worth the extra scratch.

The ADT Installer told me on the phone he usually does wireless
systems in the houses in my area because of the layout, I'm not too
sure I want a wireless system exclusivly for several reasons. The
first is that I don't know what frequency it operates on and I need to
find that out first, I have a wireless network setup in my house for
my laptops so I don't want those to cross paths, and do you need to
put batteries in the remote sensors? How do they work, just stick em
in somewhere? Hows the range on those little sensors.

That DMP internet router looks like just what I need, do you know of
any monitoring companies that support that on their end? Do they need
the same thing or they can do their own thing as long as it
understands the commands the DMP pumps out to it?

Our Central Station uses DMP's routers, along with the receiver necessary to
receive signals from the iCOMsl router. Unfortunately we do not monitor
residential accounts. But if you do decide to use DMP, I can put you in
touch with a dealer in your area who will monitor a residential account. The
DMP iCOMsl will work on any Manufacturers control panel.

A couple of websites you might find helpful are:
