Is it possible to add a capacitor to a 16v doorbell transformer so that when the power goes off due to a momentary power outage/brown out, there is uninterrupted power going to the doorbell?

It is possible that your doorbell is AC, which eliminates the use of a capacitor, in any case that most likely would be good for one shot only, if DC bell, it might pay to look at a rechargeable battery backup.

Hello Minder,

Thank you for the reply. It is a 120v to 16v AC transformer. I was trying to avoid the battery backup route (UPS) because it is in an attic and I’d prefer not to deal with battery replacement maintenance.

I usually simply knock on the door if the bell doesn't work.:)
