Mits Remote

Hi,

What model of universal remote is likely to access the menu on a
little Mits freebe TV, model CS-2105C Nov.'91. The vertical IC TA7837
was bad and the pumpup cap was dry. It works great but without a
remote it is stuck in cable mode and contrast is just too bright to
watch. I turned down the sub-cont trimmer a little and it helped tone
down the fierceness but it didn't do much for the colour level.

Any advice appreciated.

.... I ran Doublespace on my monitor & get 2 more TV channels.

Oneforall remotes work great. Use setup code 0150, or if you can get one of
their older remotes, use setup code 150.

One nice feature about these remotes is that you can pretty much access
every remote feature using their advanced codes.

See: http://www.hifi-remote.com/codes2/TV_0150.shtml

Even if you can't find a particular feature in their default listing, you
can try every advanced code from 000 to 255 and you're bound to find some
interesting results. I once did this to a Mitsubishi TV and found myself in
the manual AFT setup mode even though the service manual instructed you to
jumper two test points. By the way, any advanced code above 255 is just a
repeat of the number modulus 255 because it only recognizes the first 8 bits
of the code.

Good luck.

I was in Target the other day,and saw a programmable remote sized and
styled like a folding cellphone that was the first I;ve seen with a menu
button,it cost ~$15.00 USD. I didn't catch the make and model of it,though.

I think the cover actually slid back instead of folding, allowing you to
access more keys than the basic ones.
