Mircom fire panel or Edwards

Hi to those who may know.

As a property manager, I'm having to install either and Edwards or
Mircom fire panel in an older apartment building. The pricing of
different installation companies is identical for the same specs and
same work for a both an Edwards or Mircom panel.

Should I stick with Edwards as it seems to be the most widespread and
the local fire department recommends this brand or is Mircom better??

Thanks for any feedback.

My company deals with mircom. They are a decent and reliable panel.
Edwards panels have gotten better, but it all comes down to service if
its addressable. Anyone can inspect either panel for the annual
inspection. But only edwards can change programing on edwards panel.
Mircom can usually be serviced by any authorized dealer.

Talk to some other property managers in the area and see who says what
about which company. Not the panel.

where are you located if you dont mind me asking? I could point you to
the reps in the area for idea's.

And never listen to the fire dept about types of panel. There only
concerned with the reset switch so they can leave when a false alarm
happens. cant count the times I've gone to a call at 3 am and the fire
department reset the whole system clearing the false alarm so they could
go back to bed.

Stick with Mircom. Go with a hard wired system (non addressable). That
way *anyone* can service it. Edwards equipment is excellent, but a lot
of their systems can only be serviced by Edwards technicians. That
means "big bucks" in the long run.
