Any good pointers to information on "pulse induction" type metal
detectors. I've already searched google, of course.

How many microvolts return signal sensitivity are we looking at for a
typical commercial "treasure hunting" metal detector?

Best regards,

None of these answers your specific query, but may be useful.

Electronics Australia published a collection of their articles on the
subject (that is metal detectors) some years ago.

A three stage amplifier with 2N3904s should work pretty well for this
application. The few hobby circuits I found on the web tried to get
50~100kHz bandwidth at gains of 1000+ from op-amps.
