Hey im doing my final year project for uni and im a bit stuck :(

My project conisist of building a belt that is capable of measuring abdominal girth. My supervisor has suggested the method of using two RCL circuit one being the transmitter and one the reciver. I am going to place the transmitter and reciver inside my belt and when it stretches it will emit a voltage which will be sent to a data logger. To power the circuits I need a portable ac power supply and i dont now which one to use.... any input will be appreciated and suggestions welcome

I would consider the easiest approach being one which has the readout automatically displayed on the belt.

One way of doing this would be to mark off the belt into regular numbered spacings and have this read at the point one end of the belt meets the rest of the belt.

My mother used to call them "measuring tapes"

Why complicate things with electronics?

I guess you have to...

I suppose you could replace the easily read markings with a resistive strip so that you could calculate the distance from the resistance.

This belongs in the Homework Help section BTW.
