Hi!

I wish to know if MC1709 is the same as uA709 which I think was the worlds second (after uA702) operational amplifier that Bob Widlar designed in 1963.

I happen to own one MC1709 with golden pins which I have hung up on my wall because I hope that it is as fantastic as I suppose it is.

I have tried to search for this answer on the internet but it does not seem to work.

Best regards, Roger
PS
I have heard from a friend that Motorola added a one to many of their ICs.

The datasheet ( https://pdf1.alldatasheet.com/datasheet-pdf/view/130010/MOTOROLA/MC1709.html looks pretty much like a generic 709. Compare with https://pdf1.alldatasheet.com/datasheet-pdf/view/9015/NSC/LM709.html They are priced at $20 plus!!? Ridiculous for such a genuine museum piece. I've got more than a dozen 709s in my junk box. Only thing to do with them is to mount them on the wall as you say! Mind you, I threw away all my valves back in the 70s including a pair of KT 66. !! So what do I know?

DSCN7008.JPG DSCN7011.JPG Hi TCSC47!

Thanks for your reply!

Today I have tried to take a picture of my MC1709, it was harder than I thought so out of a dozen pictures I am attaching the best.

OPs does normally not belong to the "painting", only different logic circuits of different kinds, uppermost are for instance different kinds of quad NANDs, I got nine versions :)

Best regards, Roger
