Hi guys,

I am currently designing a portable battery powered medical device and I am
looking for a very low profile 100uH inductor that will be inexpensive
(0.15$ in 100K quantity). Any suggestions will be very appreciated.

Hello,
have you tried coilcraft ( www.coilcraft.com ) ?
They have lots of interesting solutions to offer.

If you check the datasheet for various ICs that are made for battery
regulation or boost, the datasheet will give you the manufacturers and
part numbers for the inductors recommended for use with their chip.

DC current rating? What is "very low profile" mean to you in mm?

I'd suggest he goes and looks at the Toko catalogue. A lot of their
inductors are available through DigiKey, and the prices tumble with
quantity. The D52LC family (for instance), is just 2mm high, and goes up
to this inductance, but with a relatively high DC resistance (1R5). The
D10F, is a taller design (5mm high), but has a much lower DC resistance,
and funtions well in small switching supplies. There are a number of types
between these extremes, and even shorter designs if required.

Best Wishes
