In my book it says that a variation of the revolving armature ac generator is often usrd for very low power (eg automobile alternator) where both windings are interlaced on a stator and the fields are coupled by a rotating soft iron ( electromagnetic) armature without windings. My question is what are they refering to as "both windings" what two windings are interlaced and why are they interlaced?
