Hello all,

I have a project that requires a free standing single door card access
system. My one choice is the IEI ProxPad Plus however it has some
shortfalls and will not do all desired.

Here is what I am looking for and was wondering if there is a mfg or model
that can do it all.

Single Door System maybe expandable but not required.

Program and Add/Delete cards thru keypad without the use of a PC

Can connect PC if desired

100 plus cards capacity

Time schedule to unlock door on flexible schedule M-F 8-5

New DST schedule or flexible

Remote mount reader if desired

Anyone know what system may meet the above requirements???

TIA

Sorry, but at this point there is not budget. This if for a customer so I
need to work on a price after I find the equipment. I would think that for
a single door stand alone the system would be less than $400. Then I need
the strike, power supply, wiring, labor, etc., etc.

Any suggestions????

400 bucks??! You can't even buy a decent manual door knob for that :)

I looked at their web site but could not get into the download of manuals
with out a passcode. Need to get one on Monday.

Do you know what they have for the new DST issue???

And do the units have a flexible auto unlock for a time schedule?? This is
the one issue that really suppressed me with the IEI ProxPad Plus. It will
do a auto unlock but only from 9-5!!! How dumb is that.

Thanks for the info.

Looking at the manual it will only do a AUTO Unlock from 9-5???? Would
prefer something a little more flexible. Unless I am missing something.

Thanks for the input.

9-5 is just the default setting. Use the software to change it. It won't
do the new DST, though.

Didn't IEI make a lockset with push buttons, 30 something users and you
could plug your puter into it and pull out history? I'd put in several as a
sub several years ago,,,cant remember if they were IEI or not...think they
were. They cost abt 500 bucks.

You had to be a bit of a locksmith though.

| I use the IEI systems to do auto unlock on a couple of buildings. Never
| noticed a restriction on the times. Why not download their s/w and play
with
| it.

Nice. I think I'll add them to our online stores. We've done well with Napco's Alarm Lock Systems brand. I get orders for them
every couple of weeks but I'd like to have a few more lines.

They're nice. I wanted to put one on my house, but they're a little
expensive just for kewl factor at home. Fairly easy to install IF you're
installed door locks before otherwise...hmmm.

One common issue is understanding how to measure backset so they order the right piece. The mechanicals of installing a cylindrical
lock are pretty straight forward. Very few people order locks for use with an exit bar though we do get those occasionally.
Government and military facilities occasionally ask for keyless entry systems. We also get interest from airports but most of the
time they take the information and hire a local installer.

Thanks to those that have replied. I now have some new info and parameters
to work with.

It seems that the IEI ProxPad Plus can change the 9-5 default auto-unlock
function thru the software only. Thru the keypad is not an option for this
function.

However because of some new parameters being placed on this project by the
customer I may have to go to a full Access Control system such as the PXL500
from Keri System.

Again thanks for all the input.

Have a good day.

Roland,

I have installed the PXL500 system from Keri Systems. Actually have 4 units
in 4 different towns all connected and controlled from one location. Not
sure what you mean about "low end gear (all plastic control housings)".
Unless you are talking about some other model that I am not aware about.

The reasons I chose the PXL500 when I did was for a number of reasons. The
main reason was I did not have to become an 'authorized dealer' with a
required training course and a minimum purchase. Second the system could do
what the customer wanted and for a good price when compared with others.
Another reason was the software (Doors) was a free download from there
website. And last the tech support was very helpful before I purchased as
well as after the system was installed. All very important!!!

The install was easy but did have some issue during the network setup that
was mostly due to my ignorance with networks. Once I got the jist of the
procedure all went well and when I had a snag the tech guys got my fat out
of the fryer.

Except for a couple of "out of my control" issues the systems have been
working fine for over 2 years now.

With this new project it seems that the free standing system may not happen
and I will be spec'ing the PXL500. The price is only going to be about $200
more. And it will do everything the customer wants it to do and more.

Hope this helps with your knowledge base.

Have a good day.

I see that Continental is connected to Napco. I will most likely stay with
Keri at this time. I don't need the mental pressure of learning a new
system. The grey matter can only retain so much and I am losing cells at a
rapid pace as it is. Thanks for the insight.

Bewator's Entro Lite could do the job here (Siemens now owns bewator,
so it's also known as Sipass Entro Lite)

DC800 + BC43, comes in around $650 AUD and can go up to 8 doors
