LM258n as comparator

I'm trying to use this chip as a comparator but I believe I am reading the data sheet wrong. Im inputing from 5 and 6 and getting the out put from pin 7.

I have a jumper going from the ground end of the 15k resistor to the middle pin of the 10k potentiometer , is that correct?

You are right about using pin 5 & 6 as input and 7 as output.
What have you done with pin 1, 2 and 3 (the second op-amp in the chip)?

And yes, the bottom end of the 15k resistor goes to the middle and upper pin of the 10k potentimeter.
