As a police detective with over 25 years of experience, I have seen so much crime and death that could have easily been avoided.
Rape, murder and yes even child abductions that did not have to happen.
The solutions are sometimes simple, but I am amazed at how many people have NO IDEA about how to stay safe in this country.

We are just not informed.

An average of 99% of the crimes that I cover could have been avoided.
Americans protect yourself and your children. Learn what you need to know. The average American citizen has less information then the criminals that I deal with - this is not the way this country is supposed to be.

Security systems, Alarms, Legal Weapons and Guns are all available to you, but what is the best choice for your personal safety.

This poster is plugging a book for $49.95, which if he is going to use
this newsgroup to send out a PR release for personal gain, should have
been mentioned in the original post.

How to live without fear in the bahamas:

1-install iron bars on all windows and doors

2-install security screens

3-install a good alarm system, alarm screens and yard beams

4-get a firearms permit for a shotgun for pigeon shooting, as its the
inly legal way to own a gun here

5-dont drive on the streets at night

6-dont walk on the streets ever

7-lots of insurance, health and contents and vehicle

8-dont drink the local tap water!

9-dont eat from local fast food restaurants

10-dont eat food purchased from the local foodstores without first
thoroughly cleaning and cooking first

11-get a good lawyer, or have a cop or judge on your payroll, who you
know is key here

12-if you get drunk, do it at home, nightclubs and bars can only lead
to rapes and kidnappings

13-if something does happen, forget calling 911, just shoot the perp!

14-if you shoot the perp, make sure they are inside your home, if not
drag them inside your home otherwise you will go to prison for 20
years

15-if you mace or beat the perp, same thing, make sure they are inside
your home, or you will also go to prison -this is when the cop or
judge on your payroll comes in handy

16-dont watch the local TV station, it is state run, and on sundays
they just try to brainwash you into becoming a born again baptist by
playing religious services all day long

17-dont talk to the crackheads at the traffic lights, ignore them

18-if you get arrested falsely or not, dont let them take you to the
local prison, hang yourself first (especially if you are white)

19-if you hit a black person in the road with your vehicle at
night/day, dont stop, their family or friends will kill you on the
spot, drive to the nearest police station and call someone you know to
meet you there with a video camera and or a reporter.

18-doubt anyone needs to write a book on this so ill shut up now! :)

That is pretty funny. Reminds of that movie with Ray Leota (or however you
spell it), with Kurt Russell, were an LA Cop installs an alarm system in
their house and then stalks the wife.
Some of the worst Directors of Security I have ever met, were ex-cops. They
seem to understand crime after it happens, but are all experts on how to
avoid it, and clueless on how to detect it.

Robert L. Bass said:
That was "Unlawful Entry." The cop was played by Ray Liotta. Good actors;
stupid plot.

OTOH, some of the worst net-cops are wannabe security dealers like the moron
from Vancouver.

Robert, sooner or later you have to come to grips with what 90% of this
industry represents. I know you already know, but I do understand your
faith.

I agree. I also have noticed a lot of these guys disappearing. Bullshit does
eventually catch up with you. It's a nice pattern though.

Reminds me of the cops down here, during the last hurricane, i went
for a drive in my jeep once the main winds calmed down, we saw police
in a police car, looting a liquor store!
