Hello all,
I am trying to find a surface mount bi colour (red / yellow) low current
(<2mA)
Led. I can find low current or bi colour but not both. Does anyone know if
such a thing exists and if so who manufactures it?
Thanks, Dave.

But "bicolor led low current surface mount" returned nothing of any use!
Dave.

Sigh. "Bicolor LED low current SMD" returns 34 hits. Be creative.

Cheers!

Bicolor LED low current SMD returns 34 hits,
"Bicolor LED low current SMD" returns none.
All 34 have some of the words but none have all. Thanks for your help anyway
and give Snoopy a pat for me.
Dave.

You can still improve your search skills, Dave.

Check out, for example,

page J-18, bi and tri-color SMT LEDs with 1-4mcd output at 2mA.

I would add that in general, SMT as well as 3 and 5 mm InGaN blue and
green LEDs (wavelength typically 470 nm for blue and 520 or 520's for
green) as well as most white ones do well at low currents. I think that
even wide viewing angle SMT ones with cheaper dice (chips) can get 5
mcd at 2 mA for blue, twice that for white and even more for green.
Higher efficiency red (GaAlAsP for a lower cost older technology and a
pure red color) can get a few mcd at 2 mA in a wide viewing angle SMT.

Note that these are not often promoted for low current use, even though
InGaN usually has efficiency maximized by lowish currents of just a few mA
(in sizes 5 mm and smaller, as opposed to Lumileds "Luxeon" and the like).

Point taken!

Thanks Spehro and everyone else who answered.

Dave.

It may have been Don Lancaster, who posted here recently, I believe,
who said that an hour in the library is worth a day in the lab. In
other words, doing thorough research will help you avoid reinventing
the wheel.
