Please forgive me for my ignorance but I need some help! I bought an old Micranta ac to dc power supply and it works great, but the meter is'nt backlit. I would like to install a led behind the meter. The meter runs off of a 110v current , but most led's require no more than 3.5 v. Would it be possible to use a resistor to lower the voltage, and how many ohm and watt resistor should I use?
Thanks,
Red

What is the DC output? That's where I would power the LED from.

Depending on the construction of the meter, you may not have any easy way of back lighting it though.

The meter is variable up to 50 volts. It will be tight but a led will fit behind the meter which is translucent.

A lot of the Radio Shack (Micronta) equipment manuals are available for free download - and many of them include schematics. If you post the model number of your power supply - someone here will probably be able to help you.
