A toxicologist who used to work in the same lab I did told me
that he had done a research project on solder fumes, and he agreed
that lead in the fumes was not the issue... but that there was
something else nasty in there that *was* a problem. I just don't
recall now what it was... guess I've inhaled too many fumes!

any time you heat an organic substance up that hot there's going to be
nasties produced - dioxin and the like...

So I'm in Torrance Electronics today to get a new TV antenna, tripod
and mast for the mother-in-law. The tripod (galvanized steel) box has
a RoHS sticker. I joke to the kid selling the stuff and he told me he
had a lady call to find out if plastic cable ties were RoHS compliant.
It's getting out of hand.....

some plastics additives have been banned.

Yeah but when it's a steak over charcoal it's danged GOOD.


Yeah, that used to give you cancer until they decided that other people's
cigarettes are to blame. ;-)
