Do pigs eat eggplant? I thought they were pretty intelligent.

John

Hi John, I'm surprised you don't eat eggplant! It IS an art to cook
it... maybe you just need to visit and we'll take you down to meet the
"Boys from the Bronx" ;-)

You should try moussaka or aubergine imam bayeldi. You might change your
mind. But moussaka is definitely not diet food.

Very simple: You give them the choice of eggplant or okra.
Watch them snarf down the eggplant.

Other things work almost as well like leaving the husk on and
placing it on the grill. You can partially peel it, smear butter in
there and pull the husk back up to keep it from burning. Some people
wrap it in foil while it's still in the husk and throw that on the
grill.

Boiling is obvious, but my stepdad found that 1/4" HOH in a
corningware pan does the job quickly in a nuker. Wet around the lip
of the pan and cover with saran wrap. The wet lip makes the wrap
stick much better.

Lastly, you can steam it. Steam it with your crustaceans and
molusks. What? You don't steam your seafood Maryland style? Your
wrong.

We used to just shuck the ears, wrap them in plastic wrap,
"nuke" [I _hate_ using that term for "cook in a microwave
oven", but it seems to be common usage] it for 3/12 min.,
turn it, give it 3 1/2 more minutes, then let it sit for
another 3-5 minutes before you unwrap it. Quick, Simple,
No Dirty Dishes, and it tastes great!

Ceers!
Rich

I heard a few months ago that nuking food in plastic ( even the so
called nuker safe plastic) causes a reaction between the plastic and
the oils (as in corn oil, fat, etc) producing a harmful chemlcal. I
forgot the dirty details.

That's too bad. I used to like using these heavy plastic bags I get
with equipment. Drop a tater and a bit of HOH in there and the
tater's done in 5 min.

It's DEFINITELY not a good idea to use non-food grade plastic bags. The
plasticizers are often quite nasty if ingested even in tiny quantities.
