What happens to an LC series circuit with a sinusoidal source, at resonance?

The resonant frequency is where the most efficient energy transfer happens. A single sinusoid contributes most of its energy to an oscillation at this frequency when it is at the same frequency, but at other frequencies only a fraction is transferred due to phase drift and cancellation. A complex signal consisting of many frequencies may appear to have a small gain at the resonant frequency because many sinusoids are contributing towards the resonant oscillation.

Add up the Xc and the Xl and see what you get.
