Laser printer Samsung ML-1510 does not come on to live at all - why?

Hi!

Laser printer Samsung ML-1510 suddenly went dead - it does not come on at
all after turning it on - all light diodes are put out. Why? How can I
check out what did fail? I have an analog multimeter.

Start simple - make sure the power outlet works, then if the printer
uses a standard removable power cord, replace it with one that you know
is good. Still not working? You need to troubleshoot the power supply.
A digital multimeter will have more useful functions like diode- and
transistor checker.
If you sre not familiar with switching power supplies, send it to
someone who repairs these printers.

I've already done the simple things. I checked out the power cord with
multimeter, seems to be ok. Also after switching the power on there is
voltage in the socket leading to the heting lamp.
Fuses seem to be ok, as well as the main switch.

difficult.

I have to repeir it myself, as I am sure that it would not be worth to
repair it in the services. That printer was one of the cheapest laser
printers on the market...

Is that a triak? How can I check out triak with analog multimeter? Above
the triak on the left is the socket for the lamp which has the correct
mains voltage.

Not many people repair these printers, they are a waste of time, no quality
in them, I wouldnt even consider buying them, I scrap these printers all the
time, because they not worth my time I usually tell the customer I can't fix
this printer purely of being a waste of time and no quality in them too.

This printer eats toner like there is no tomorrow, 2500 pages is not much
from a laser cartridge, but in real life it never even comes close to this
(officially rated) output. If you print half of the official rating before
having to plunk down another $70 for a new cartridge, count yourself lucky.

To add insult to injury, the feed roller is made of low grade rubber which
deteriorates to such a degree after 3-4000 pages that it will jam the paper
every single time, thus making the printer completely useless. For most
users this occurs after the warranty is up, so you get to choose between a
service call costing about the same amount as the printer's new price, or
just buying another printer. I know the next one will not be a Samsung...

I think the Samsung is a discontinued model. I've seen both of them at $100
after rebate. That's in US dollars. As printers they both would do a
commendable job of holding your door open. Their advantage is that they're
small and you wouldn't tend to trip over them as you would a larger model.
As they say, you get what you pay for. If they last through one toner
cartridge or make it past the guarantee period, you've done good.

It's not how good it is, but rather how bad. All the Samsung printers I've
seen are flimsy pieces of junk. I'd look at the new HP1200. 15ppm at
1200dpi. It's got a horizontal feed which should eliminate the problem
feeding of hte HP1100 it replaced. All this for $399 US.

Not too familiar with Samsung printers. I consider them in the "disposable"
category of printers. Black is caused by a lack of high voltage at the PCR
(primary corona roller) White would be a lack of toner. It's unusual to see
both at the same time. If that model has a separate drum and toner
cartridge, I'd replace the drum unit. The hv assembly can't be selective
about where the voltage goes on the drum and where it doesn't, so it
couldn't be at fault. By the time you get done messing with it, you could
have bought a new printer. Like I said "disposable".

Would gladly take the electronic board from one of the printers you scrap,
the only problem is that I am not in Australia as I suppose you are, so
it's rather not worth sending it. :/

I found that there is no voltage on the transformer outlet marked red on
this picture:

so perhaps this transformer is faulty?

What do you think?

The transformer is marked as: Humming-V2 SW.04.20
but I cannot identify that transformer.

Would someone scrapping these printers be so kind and send me that
transformer?
