laptop lcd will not display color red

A friend of mine says that his sony laptop lcd will no longer display the
color red. I have never heard of this problem before and really don't know
where to begin to help him. Does anyone know what hardware problem could be
causing this, or is this maybe some kind of software/driver issue I do not
kno about.

Looks like the cable that connects to the LCD may be damaged.
That can be repaired.
What's the size of the LCD display? Do you know any more info (e.g.
video driver version)?
