A few years ago my Sony Trinitron stopped receiving broadcast whenever
i had an antenna hooked up to it, the speakers would play a tv shows
sound for 2 seconds and then go out with sound of snow and the picture
would go fuzzy.Now I just use it for movies and gaming because the
screen still works but up and till 2 weeks ago the brightness of the
screen has been flickering, white is turning to purple and sometimes
the screen just goes black. So I have a question is it my picture tube
or something else?

What you are describing is usually the CRT that is going defective. This can
be verified by taking voltage readings at the base of the CRT to know the
biases. You will need to have a DVM, and also to have the service manual to
know the proper specifications and information.

I don't advise that you go in to your TV set without having the proper
service experience, and TV service knowledge.
