Attempting to repair a JVC AV-31BM4 TV, main board label reads SG61026A
with tuner CEEM245. First problem with the set was a red tint on the
picture, found a 15K resistor was open on the crt board. Testing the
set further revealed the tuner problem.

The set will not receive any tv or cable channels through the tuner.
32V, 12V and 5V at tuner look ok AGC reads 7.2V. Autodetecting or
manually adding channels didn't make any difference. The AV jacks work
so using an external tuner is a possibility, but while I have this set
apart on the bench, any ideas or known tuner problems with this set?

Thanks,
Tim B.

The CEEM245 series is notorious for being bad. The CEEM245 is replaced
by the CEEK255. The A03 -A06 number after the CEEM245 makes a
difference in which CEEK255 to use. The tuner is not cheap, about $75
dealer cost $105 list.

Thanks for the information, I didn't have much luck in finding any
information regarding the tuner using GOOGLE. The number after CEEM245
is A033N25. Considering the set was given to me and the cost of a new
tuner, it looks like the video jacks or s-video will be the way to go.

Thanks again,
Tim B.

You can get the tuner from Tip-Top Tuner for $27.
