Did you pay your dues yet? The accounting department shows no record of
your
payment.

That's because the receptionist didn't took all the check back from the mail
office to the accounting department..

And don't forget that they are still trying to follow with all the bill they
have to send to paully for all the misinformation he is sending in the
group..
They are even thinking about giving him an open account and send him one
bill peer months...

one other thing...Mark is getting the same treatment...but for his lack of
humour sense when someone say a joke on Bush..;-)

electrical engineering technologist...i've done mostly burg/fire alarm
systems for the last 6 yrs, but now i do a lot of access control and
cctv systems. I use mostly DSC and Ademco products for alarm systems,
and Northern Computers and Kantech for access control.

All excellent systems. We dropped Northern (on the access side) last year
in favour of Kantech, Sentex, and Keyscan. We have two installations (both
take-overs) with DSC Maxsys systems. Both are ongoing headaches, but the
customers are thoroughly "sold" on the product... <sigh>

I've never installed a Maxys system, but I have done some service work
on them..not fun.
Better carry lots of Advil and keep DSC tech. support on speed dial.

I've used a few of them, mostly when I need skeds or multiple partitions.
The programming can be tedious via keypad, but I mostly use my laptop. I
just installed a 4020 for card access last week with the 4820 module. Works
pretty well, and integrates with the alarm. I connected it to the customer's
on site computer via PC Link so they can administer the cards. The only
trouble I had was getting a pgm output to follow the entry delay. Simple
thing, but I never did get that to work.

If you're planning to call DSC tech support you might want to bring
something along to read while you wait -- perhaps Tolstoy's "War and Peace".

Isn't that true with most tech support phone #'s though? The best is
when you're waiting on hold and the owner/manager is standing there
watching you, asking if there is something wrong.

That's their misfortune. Some of us get to go. Others get to stay and
whine.

They're not all that bad. Napco usually answers within a minute or so.
Ademco is really slow to answer, sometimes as much as 20 minutes on hold.
GE usually takes two to three minutes but sometimes as long as five minutes.
DSC's lines are often busy and when you finally do get through you're
frequently relegated to a 10-15 minute queue.

Some should have others backing them up so customers with questions don't
have to wait 3 weeks for answers

We are very similar in that respect then. I was a Navy Electronics
Technician and have focused on access control and cctv matrix systems for
the last 7 years or so. For alarm I use a proprietary system or DMP
mostly... For access, we have a wide range (Northern, Kantech, AMAG,
C-Cure, Hirsch, and Casi - depends on their needs/wants and what they have
existing). Getting away from Northern though... as far as possible.

I'm working on that but it's difficult finding good help. Look at what your
boss had to settle for.

Northern is the biggest piece of shit on this planet. I do enjoy replacing
them though....
