I bough the Parallax BASIC Stamp ("Homework") Kit at RadioShack today-- i
did not even know they carried it. Worked through 60 pages of the book and
several projects. VERY cool! I am excited to learn this stuff!

How much did you pay at RS?

About $90, but the kit includes a $39 book in addition to the BASIC
Stamp 'Homework' board (that has breadboard, Stamp microprocessor,
RS-232 (serial port), battery clip, etc.), lots of components (servo
motor, many LEDs, two tiny pushbutton switches, cathods, resistors, LED
that you program to display a number), and a CDROM with lots of software

I must say the book with projects is VERY easy to work through, even a
teenager could work through. Almost too gentle a pace.

Software (Stamp Editor) installed flawlessly and connected to Stamp with
supplied serial cable (in kit) so you can enter, edit, save programs you
type from the book (they are just short 5 to 20 line programs), etc.

I went up to RS today and bought more stuff -- Bargraph LED, thermistor,
photocells; pretty cheap stuff to play with for the stamp.

Last night I downloaded the free charting software for the Stamp, it was
awesome-- I was able to view readltime data charted to a graph and also
saved to a data file (text file, comma separated values). Very nice for my
purposes. The photoresistor project was cool-- incredibly sensitive, could
function as a motion detector it was so sensitive.

I arrived late on this thread. Beo - Can you post the link to the Stamp
    charting software?

  7. According to Parallax's home page, the price is $79.99 at Radio Shack,
which is 50% off the regular price. Quantities are limited to two per
store. You can also order it online from RadioShack. Check out for the full info including which RadioShack stores
    sell it.
