ITI GE Simon v3 Motion Detectors

I recently purchased the ITI GE Simon v3 with smoke alarms, door/window
sensors and motion detectors and I'm having a problem disarming the motion
detectors. I have the option on the control panel to either arm the
door/window sensors and/or motion sensors separately. When I arm only the
door/windows sensors, the motion sensor is still armed and activated by
motion. If both door/window and motion sensors are disarmed, the motion
detectors disarm properly. There is a light on the control panel that
displays which sensors are armed, and I'm sure the motion detector arming
light is off and only the door/window sensor arming light is on.

Is this a defect in the control panel or sensor, or am I missing something?

Sounds like you don't have any 'motion' sensors.
Everything is programmed as a door/window zone.

You didn't describe a third scenario. When you only arm the motions,
do they all trip the system when you walk in front of them? If not,
you may have mistakenly enrolled the motion(s) in question using a
perimeter sensor group type. I sometimes do this on purpose on the
Simon II so that some motions (those that can be armed at night) arm
with the perimeter, and others (those that need to disarmed at night)
arm only when the "Motion Sensors" button is used.

If the motion doesn't work when only the "Motion Sensors" arming
button is used, reprogram that motion using an interior sensor group
type, such as "20".

I programmed the Motion sensors in group 35, the door/windows in group 10
and the smoke alarms in 26. I'm still learning the various options so it's
very possible this was incorrect.

I haven't tried to just arm the motions since there was no need, but now
there is. I'll try this and post my findings.

In the interim, will the above settings *not* coincide with the control
panel for the motion and/or door/window arming buttons? I was looking for
the best UL listed group for all sensors, and expecting the door/window
button to arm/disarm the door/windows, and the motion button to arm/disarm
the motion detectors - both independent from each other.

Thats the problem, reprogram it for 17
