I'm trying to test a few components and this one is marked 393JM which should be an inductor according to the data sheet but I can't find an image of this on line.
    Can anyone confirm the identity?
    Thanks. 393JM inductor.JPG

Did you confirm first it is an inductor by a resistance check?

    Don't think so.
The "flat structure " and color look more like a polyester capacitor.

The photo is useless, please post a good quality one.

    Couldn't get an ohm reading.

It's out of a Zing Ear ZE-02 dimmer switch.

I agree that it looks like a capacitor but I don't see any value for it.

Don't you got a multimeter? You can measure it easily. Be careful of other components in //

    Most probably a 39nF/250V capacitor.
The 393 is the value =39000pF=39nF.

If by that you mean the meter showed open circuit then the component is most likely a 39nF capacitor.

I took a capacitor reading and it's 36.98 nanofarads or .039 microfarads, does that jive?
