    welding transformer into a step up transformer rather than a stepdown
    i know ther has to be but maybe there isnt or if there isnt is there
    anyone that knows were i could get a 300 volth 20 amp to 50 amp fixed
    amperage transformer for a good price

    No. At least I think not. The welder transformers I've seen are
    "ferro-resonant," which means they're regulated, and short- and
    overload-resistant. Hooking one up backwards is probably not a
    very good idea at all.
    Check with surplus dealers, or the power company, for a used pole pig.

    What do you need this for? Building an electric smelting furnace?

    Well, you might try rewinding a welder of suitable power (6Kw) so that
    the output winding has some 10 times the number of turns.
