Is it out there anywhere?

    Ladies and gentlemen -

After searching the web for the last three days I am coming to you to
see if any of you have heard of anything like what I am looking for.

I am looking for a security system that offers the following options:

    - Multiple LCD or LED keypads that allow you to arm/disarm the system
plus give immediate output of where a fault is. (I know some systems
only show one zone and you have to toggle a switch to show another
    zone...this isn't what I am looking for).

    - X10 INPUT as well as output (this probably takes me out of the market
    right here).

    - PC connectivity, preferably through ethernet, RS232 will work.

    - Multiple user codes.

I know this is a lot to ask for and if there is a system out there it
is probably in the $1,000's, but if anyone could give me a heads up I
    would greatly appreciate it.

    Thanks

    Tom

    Elk M1-Gold... http://www.elkproducts.com. It's an expensive sucker,
but well worth the investment if you consider all that it can do.

  3. There is a system that can do all that you asked. It's called M1 Gold and
it's made by ELK Products. It can display and/or speak the status of each
zone, as well as the status of the system at each keypad. Both Ethernet
connectivity and RS-232 (one to eight ports) are supported. The system can
send and receive X10. It supports multiple lighting and home automation
    protocols.

I recently sold a complete ELK M1G system for a 4000 sf residence. The cost
of material, including sensors, zone expanders, Ethernet port, etc., was
about $1,800. The system included 48 hard-wired "zones" (circuits for alarm
sensors), two keypads plus fire and burglary protection. The system
included the optional Ethernet card. If the client had only needed RS232,
which is built-in to the mother board, it would have come in at under
    $1,600.

If you need of a source give Wade Moose, president of ELK Products, a call
and ask him about me. If you'd like access to ELK manuals give me a call.
I'll be happy to forward them to you or answer any questions you may have.

If you need a better source try searching Bass Home Electronics with the
Florida BBB - Here wait a minute - I saved you the trouble.

    You forgot to mention:

He's announced (recently) in another newsgroup that he's leaving the
country again in a few weeks for another *THREE* months. So much for
tech support... "Hey, Martha, whenever I phone Bass Home, I can hear
    the ocean".

That there are pop-up/pop-unders on his site (be particularly aware of
the "Winfixer" one when it comes around. It's been identified by
    Symantec as a security risk).

That he runs *three* other websites (all selling the same stuff). Why,
for "petem's" sake?? The good thing is that the BBB sure caught on
fast. Hey Robert, do you have one of those "low price guarantees"?? If
someone shopping bassburglaralarms.con finds the same stuff cheaper at
    either bass-home.com, security-alarm-systems.com, or
home-automation.us.com, do you "price match"??? Do you "run down" the
"competition" at the same time?? :)

Speaking of "competition", I don't know of anyone whose business is in
competition with... himself?? It must be a "Brazilian thing", or maybe
it's the air in Florida... Jim!!! Get out while you can!!! Move to
Texas where your backyard could get to be as "big" *as Texas* (and
you'll finally have room for all those old Moose panels and keypads)! :)

And then there's Doug L's fabulous post (which'll bear repeating soon!)...

  9. Some folks have asked why I run four similar websites. There are
differences between the sites beyond templates and URLs. Some product lines
are only found on certain sites. Some vendors are represented on one and
not another site. As we develop relationships with more vendors and
manufacturers I plan to emphasize different aspects of the industry on each
site. I plan to build additional sites dedicated to access control and
commercial fire alarms which I mainly sell to small dealers and companies
that use in-house electricians to do their own installations.

I have over 200,000 products available. As time allows I plan to display
information on over 100,000 of those products online.
