    Hi everybody,

I was told this is THE place where I can find very skilled senior technicians to ask help with electronics; well, as I am new to Perth/Australia, I don't really know where to get components from.

I know that here in Perth there are:

    Altronics (Northbridge and Balcatta)
    Jaycar (Northbridge)
    RS Components (Balcatta)

But when it comes to find the IPMs to fix the YSUS board in a plasma TV, the only source of parts I found so far is the tip ... :)

Also, I'm looking for a de-soldering iron such as the one in the picture attached; I know RS sells it, but I an not willing to pay almost $ 500 for it ... any other source? Second hand, as long as it is working, is ok .....

So, I'm asking; is there any other electronic components distributor in Perth or Australia that actually sells these IPMs?

    Cheers everyone,

    Stefano.

They would be the big three.

If you want to buy more than just a couple of things, often ordering form overseas becomes viable.

RS gives free delivery on quite a number of things.

Rockby in Victoria have good freight charges, and if they have what you want on special it can be a real bargain.

Ordering just one specialised part from the US can be very expensive. I have a relative in the US that forwards stuff for me. Digikey tend to want to charge $US40+ for anything.

Thank you Steve; I guess the tip is my best supplier then, at least for now ....

I've ordered from Futurlec who ship from the Philippines (I think) are another option. Note that they have an Australian outlet too. You may find that it's cheaper to order from the .com version though. I have no idea about the shipping times from the Australian distributor (or if they actually ship from Australia)
