iPhone Controlled Circuit Switching

I am looking to use my iPhone to give wireless control to something as simple as a single pole single switch, etc. I'm not so interested in the iPhone portion of it (the software - coding) but more of the method of communication between it and a device. Also any recommendations of what would be the best device to use, something lightweight and cheap with minimal functionality, would be greatly appreciated.

Could you provide a link to exactly what you mean? I haven't found anything too simple or inexpensive. I did find a basic Bluetooth module via spark fun for $15.00 and that's about it. I plan on using this in my home with Wifi so I am thinking that might be a better route. Bluetooth isn't something that most devices leave on and I don't want to have to enable it each time I go to use it. Any recommendations or resources on how to do this via wifi?
