Inputs to regulators of a PSU

    Hi all

    I'm designing a PSU for a college project and am having some trouble with the input stage.


    My logic is as follows

    240/18 = a primary-to-secondary turn ratio of 13.3

    Ripple voltage formula for half-wave rectification is Vpp = I / f x C therefore C = 2 / 50 x 18 therefore C = 2.2x10^-3

    As you can see i have failed miserably, my Vout starts at 0V the slowly rises in a linear fashion. If anyone could point out what i'm missing that would be very much appreciated.

    That is not what your scope is showing, it is showing a steady output voltage. Which is not surprising since you are drawing no current from the supply.
