Input/Process/Output

Hi everyone,
I'm studying Btec EEE and so far I have been give a task to research about inputs, processes and outputs of different devices. I have chosen TV for my research. Now I know that input for TV is an antenna and the output is sound and pixels. However, I'm stuck on the process and I need more detail as to how things work. I'm not asking for an answer, just for somebody to point me to the right direction, maybe some links. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

There may be more to a TV's inputs than the signal from the antenna
Don't forget you have buttons and other video sources to contend with.

I'm a little unsure on what you are asking about how things work though... are you looking into specifics about the signal characteristics and the processing from signal to video?
