InfraRed transmitter

    Hi guys, I'm Very new at Electronics and Electronics circuits.
    I'm trying to create a Matrix with an Infrared transmitter.
    I have two issues:

    1) How to calculate the wave-length I need to my InfraRed transmitter While I know the this:

    "Each pulse is turned on and off at a frequency of 38kHz"

    2) How to choose an Infrared transmitter, I have seen many types, My needs are:


    a) Same wave-length as I will caculate from the frequency.
    b) I need a transmitter that can transmit to long distance as much as I can.
    c) I don't mind to spend 15$ for one transmitter as long its good!

    I have edited the post to remove reference to very high power IR emitters

    concentrate on IR diodes that are 100mW or less

    knowing where you were heading, I wont hesitate to close the thread again should you
    start going down the same path

    and I want you to describe VERY CLEARLY exactly what your goals are

    My goals are: Im trying to control syma107g Helicopter without the remote control but via my arduino uno,
    I want to try to connect InfraRed to my arduino uno, I manged to to do so, But the signal of the Infra was working only for half\one meter from the Heli.
